Abstract

The article presents a philosophical and sociological analysis of processes of cultural globalization, development of consumer society and fashion industry in Russia. Authors analyze the social foundations of cultural globalization. The article examines the influence of cultural globalization on the process of distribution of symbols of new mass culture. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the development of the fashion and entertainment industry in the modern Russian society. The article also examines the specific impact of the processes of marketization and the displacement of national cultures in the system of modern societies.

Maria BAYNOVA, Russian State Social University

(PhD in Sociology) is Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Administration, Russian State Social University, Moscow, Russia. Areas of interest include economic philosophy, economic sociology, public administration, labour culture, globalisation. Baynova is the author of 50 scientific articles in Russian and international journals. Recent publications: “Modern Estimate of Environmental Ethics and Sustainable Development Issues”, “The Culture and the Cultural Heritage in the Modern City”, “The Interaction Between the Culture and the Religion in Modern Russian Society” and “Modern Transformation of Labor Culture and Aesthetics in the Light of Sergei Bulgakov’s Religious Philosophy”.

Polina PALEKHOVA, Russian State Social University

(PhD, Dr. of Science in History) is Deputy Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development of the Institute of Finance and Sustainable Development of Ranepa and the Professor of the Department of Management and Public Administration, Russian State Social University, Moscow, Russia. Her areas of interest include history, environmental policy, management, education. Palekhova is the author of more than 110 publications. Recent publications: “State Environmental Policy and its Implementation in the Russian Federation in the 1950s-1990s.”, “Correlation of the Principles of Sustainable Development in the Practice of the Modern Model of Socialisation of Personality”.

Alexander PETROV, Saint-Petersburg State University

(PhD, Dr. of Sciences in Sociology) is Professor of the Department of Sociology, Saint-Petersburg State University, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. His areas of interest include economic philosophy, social philosophy, economic sociology, historical sociology. Petrov is the author of 3 monographs and 110 scientific articles. (PhD in History) is the Associate Professor of the Institute of History, Saint-Petersburg State University, Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
