Journal History

WISDOM was the official journal of the International Research Institute for Metaphilosophy, Transformational Logic, and Theory of Argumentation at Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU). The first and the second volumes of the journal represent the texts of the basic reports introduced at the International Conference on "Theoretical and Practical Issues of the Transforming Society Development: philosophical and psychological aspects" (April 16-17, 2012) organized by the mentioned institute. The papers are compiled within the journal's corresponding sections by the two - Philosophical and Psychological sections of the Conference.  The positive feedback and noteworthy observations to the first and the second issues confirm the publications' significance and value.

After four years, on November 22-23, 2016, there was organized a new international conference, "Life and Philosophy," unfortunately, this time without Academician Georg Brutian, therefore dedicated to his memory and 90th anniversary.

Georg BRUTIAN – the founder-president of the Institute and the founder-editor of the journal passed away on December 8, 2015, at 89. After the death of the world's famous scientist, an irreplaceable figure for the Armenian philosophical community, the Institute was dissolved. The Department of Philosophy and Logic at ASPU assumed further fulfillment of the Institute's activity, particularly the journal publication. It was possible and realistic as the scientific-research fields of studies of the Department were grounded on the Institute's scientific directions. The lecturers of the Philosophy and Logic Department are Georg Brutian's students of different generations. They were members of the Institute, involved in research and organizational activities, and the Editorial Board of WISDOM members.

Among other events of the conference program, the Department of Philosophy and Logic at the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University was renamed in honor of Academician Georg Brutian. Hasmik Hovhannisyan - Head of the Department of Philosophy and Logic and the current chief editor of WISDOM and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, professor of the same department and deputy editor of WISDOM, were two deputy directors of the Research Institute of Metaphilosophy, Transformational Logic, and Argumentation, who continue and develop traditions of their teacher - Georg Brutian.

The articles included in the 7(2), 2016, and 1(8), 2017 issues of WISDOM are the talks introduced at the conference "Life and Philosophy". The discussion of which in the conference sections is considered an actual substitute for review procedure necessary for publication. The content of the issue and its sections are formed according to the conference sections.
