Little Mher : Revolting or Alienating Hero?

Abstract

One of the most enigmatic personages of Armenian epic is a Little Mher (Pokr Mher). His personage was interpreted peculiarly by many researchers highlighting the hidden sacrament and inexplicable behavior attributing him a dualistic essence. The aim of the article is to discover the path of dual nature, introducing the works of some researchers concerning the subject matter and analyzing the personage of Little Mher with a different approach. The life of Pokr Mher is ingrained with tragedies. The feeling of alienation and abandonment is accompanying him everywhere. He is bearing a burden of all the mankind. But considering Mher’s personage as a refugee and sulky perhaps is a result of hasty approach. Being excommunicated and feeling the whole tragedy of his destiny, Mher is struggling gainst world manner and saying “NO” to the wicked world. His revolt is not a simple as it was not directed to the personal unfortunate fortune, but it is a revolt against the world manner, his revolt is metaphysical.
