It has been shown that the notions of object and scope of research may be viewed from two methodological perspectives – contemplative and practice-oriented. The latter perspective, however, yields a more content-rich product, as the terminology and concept range of the contemplative approach turns out to be a sub-set of the action-oriented perspective, focused on the notions of the ends, means and result. This suggests that the requirement to state the object and scope of research in addition to its goal and means, as stipulated in a number of regulations, may be superfluous.
