Conceptual Analysis of the Problem of National Identity

Abstract

This article raises some questions about the elements of national beeing - in particular national identity and related some sub-elements and their role and place in the context of philosophical and “private-scientific” analytical reasoning.

Within Ethnology decided to allocate 3 des­tinations that are not only different interpretations of the relationship of the terms "nation" and "ethnicity", but also the role of national identity factor in the system of exis­tential regulators ethni­city. These directions: primordiallism, situationism (instrumentalism) and constructivism .

According primordialistic models: ethnicity - is objective form of coexistence, which is inhe­rent in a kind of “ethnicity” than it is different from other types of co-existence (professional, religious, etc.). A nation is considered as a certain stage of deve­lopment of the ethnic group.

Supporters Situationist spend some "ethical line", which refers to a line with which members of an ethnic group attribute to themselves a certain identity.

Constructivism’s followers believe that the nation - it is an artificial entity that created the in­tellectual elite.

Not begging role and importance of the other elements in the issue of national identity, we conc­lude that the national identity - is a powerful wea­pon that is able to save, protect and even save ethnicity in the difficulties of his existence.
